Student Compositions

Recent wonderful work by some of my students at UWM. We had a blast trying out some new things with audio and video.

Adam Bjoraker
Adam came to UWM from the twin cities to study Finger-Style guitar. He has an affinity toward contemporary Finger-Style repertoire. Here he is playing one of his favorites, “To Run in a Dream,” on a guitar that he built.

Nate Andrew
Nate came to UWM from Maine with an interest in Finger-Style guitar. We have worked together for several semesters, and I have enjoyed watching him grow significantly as a songwriter/composer. Here he is playing one of his own compositions titled “Reduction.”

Haley Butler
Haley is wrapping up a BA music degree at UWM. We’ve had a lot of fun working together over the last several semesters. She has a wonderful voice that adds an unexplored dimension to classic finger-style and blues repertoire.

We recorded her interpretation of Dave Van Ronk’s “Green Rocky Road” in November of 2013.

Brock Camden
I first had the pleasure of working with Brock on Skype in 2010. He came to me as a high school student from Burlington, Ontario. What started as an interest in Leo Kottke blossomed into a bright career path for him. He ended up moving to Milwaukee and enrolling as a BFA in guitar performance at UW-Milwaukee where I feel honored to work with him on a daily basis. Brock is currently an in-class tutor for Beginning Guitar, has received scholarships for his hard work, and took 2nd place in the 2013 Wilson Center Guitar competition in the Finger-Style category.
